Sweater Patterns for Knit for Kids

The T-sweater pattern we use was originally published in the Guideposts magazine back in 1996.  The sweater is easy to make and consists of two identical T-shaped pieces sewn together.

Lap Blankets and Shawls for Hospice of Wake County

Make your own lap blanket or shawls using one of the patterns below or any other pattern you have.  If an entire blanket or shawl is too big a project, you can participate in the group granny square lap blanket project.  Lap blankets and shawls should be of 100% acrylic yarn since most institutions launder items in hot water.  They should not have fringe or tassels since these can get caught in wheelchairs.  A lap blanket should be approximately 30"x40".  Since this is the typical size for a baby blanket, some of the patterns below are baby blankets.  Just choose adult colors to turn in into a lap blanket.  All patterns are beginner or easy levels.

Baby Items for 1st Baptist of Raleigh Clothing Ministry

Some of these patterns use baby or sport-weight yarn.  We have a large selection of baby yarns available.  Most of the lap blanket patterns above are the size of baby blankets and could be worked in appropriate colors for babies.  Click here for our head size chart.

  Hats for Rex Cancer Center

Use a softer yarn for greater comfort and colors appropriate for adult men and women. Do NOT use yarn with wool content.  Lighter weight or cotton yarn can be used for summer months.  Seamless (crochet or knit in the round), non-lumpy hats are more comfortable.  Since many hats are used by patients to conceal the baldness caused by cancer treatment, use a pattern that creates a solid look instead of a "hole-y" look.  We have sorted out the yarn in our collection which is appropriate for hats for cancer patients.  Most hat patterns are sized for women's heads.  Use a larger hook/needle to make a bigger hat for a man's head.  Click here for our size chart.
