Adult Sunday School

Our Adult Sunday School classes meet at 9:45 am. Abundant Life

Location: Multi-Purpose Room (Administration Building)

abundant_life_class_32010Class members (singles and married couples) vary in age from 40’s to 70’s in an open and nurturing environment to discover spiritual gifts, grow in faith and respond by serving and answering God’s call upon their lives. They participate in large and small group discussions and have opportunities to facilitate the class and be involved in curriculum selection. This class enjoys fellowship and serving together and tackling controversial topics. Wesleyan small group model is a guide and are encouraged to participate in spiritual formation/educational opportunities. Bible Link

Location: Room 318 (Lower Level Sanctuary Building)

Class members range from 21 – 82, single adults and couples. Bible Link focuses on study of the current week’s lectionary Bible passages (typically an OT passage, Psalm, NT passage, and Gospel reading. Class members volunteer to read lectionary; background is provided with follow up questions for discussion. of viewpoints, experiences and wonderings. Context of the passages, their meaning to those for whom they were written, and their meaning for today in our world and in our church is explored.  For more information click here.

 

Connections: Faith In Action

Location: Library (End of Administration Building)

The focus of this class is to study and fellowship as they explore and grow their faith together. They are open to all adults who are interested in deepening and exploring their faith through lively discussion, interaction, Bible study, use of DVDs and other activities. Faith Journey

Location: Room 325 (Lower Level Sanctuary Building)

Class format is one of informal and interactive discussion. Everyone is encouraged to voice their opinion in a supportive and non-threatening atmosphere. As the name of the class suggests, the Christian walk is a “journey”, not an event. As we journey, we gain a deeper understanding of Christ’s teachings and become closer to Him, accomplished through learning and study of interesting and challenging topics. We are each at different stages along this life-long path and we each travel at a different pace but are all brothers and sisters in Christ and treat each other accordingly. Faithful Living

Location: Room 319 (Lower Level Sanctuary Building)

Recently formed, this class is dedicated to providing relaxed friendship for people looking for opportunities to use scripture to enrich their daily lives. New class members (all ages, sexes, married and single) are always welcomed to these independent modules which foster and invite participation. Members are invited to provide input into the direction of the class as well as participate as they feel led, including leading individual sessions. Prior reading of books is encouraged. FISH

Location: Room 307 (Lower Level Sanctuary Building)

Believing that active fellowship and socialization are key elements in a healthy Christian environment, class members socialize frequently both inside and outside of class. Most classes feature DVD based studies combined with light reading, focusing discussions on class materials and current events. Class members are active in church and most have children. Following Jesus

Location:  Reception Area (Administration Building)

This class is for all those who are new to the faith, have never tried Sunday School at Saint Francis or who have been away from Sunday School for a long time. This 12 week study is for those wanting to learn the basics of Christianity. It’s a great introduction to having a relationship with God and searching for how Jesus relates to your life today. Gather in Reception Area for class location. 

 

Living the Questions

Our newest class is for those who may sense they are alone in being a “thinking” Christian. This 21-week small group study explores beyond the traditions and rote theologies in which so many people and local churches seem to be stuck. The class provides a safe environment where people have permission to ask the questions they've always wanted to ask but have been afraid to voice for fear of being thought a heretic. The format of each session includes a video, guided discussion, spiritual exercises and Bible study for practical applications. Current study: Living the Questions

 

Parents of Young Disciples

Location: Room 323 (Lower Level Sanctuary Building)

Also a relatively new class formed for parents of young children (birth to 5th grade), it is also open for parents of older children, grandparents, aunts, uncles and friends. The environment provides opportunity to gather, learn and support each other in Christian love in the experience of raising children in today’s world. Variety of tools offered to take home and try. Woman To Woman

Location: Prayer Chapel (Lower Level Sanctuary Building) 

This class, specifically for women of all ages, focuses on issues and topics that are related to women and women in Bible. Curriculum is chosen with this criteria, with input from all members. Light reading is encouraged before class convenes. Leadership is rotated as everyone is invited to help facilitate for as little as one week or as long as a whole study.
