Gusta Java Coffee Fund Raiser

Do you like a good hot Cup o'Joe? Do you like to support international missions of Saint Francis? Do you like to multi-task? Saint Francis International Missions have teamed with Gusta Java Coffee to provide a fund raising opportunity to support our efforts in Nicaragua.

In February 2007, Saint Francis International Missions Team joined with El Ayudante on a mission trip to the Santa Emilla Valley north of the city of Matagalpa high in the Central Mountains of Nicaragua's coffee growing region. On this trip we worked with the workers and children of Gusta Java's Granos Supremos Coffee Plantation, the site of the future El Ayudante Team House. Gusta Java has set up a Saint Francis account where for every one pound of coffee you purchase, they will donate $4 toward Saint Francis UMC International Missions. In addition, they will donate a portion of their profits toward El Ayudante to continue their work with the people of Nicaragua. To learn more about Gusta Java's mission check out their story at: Gusta Java's Mission. This is Fair Trade Coffee at its best!!!

Try their Nicaraguan Coffee and you will see why it is a favorite "morning fuel" of so many Saint Francis International Mission Team members.

"Directly from our Nicaraguan farm, Granos Supremos! In Granos Supremos coffee, the acidity is more pronounced than you will find in the vast majority of Nicaraguan coffees but the flavors knit together quite well. The cup flavors have an unusual sweetness to them, sage, cola, and a bit of smokiness. It's not one of those simple, sweet clean Centrals. There are hints of cedar in both the fragrance and the cup flavors, with a crisp brightness in the initial sip. Bittersweet chocolate and nuts follow through from start to finish, and an almost piney note lingers. This savory, brothy quality is something I find as a very positive attribute in great Nicaraguan coffees. A brisk cup profile, chocolate, nuts, and cedary notes are what dominate here."

If Nicaraguan coffee is not your cup o'joe, then try any number of their other great coffees from around the world. When you order your coffee, please use the following code to denote our fund raiser: Saint Francis Account # SF031.

Gathering Space Coffee Pot

In addition to this opportunity, SFUMC International missions will sponsor the Gathering Space Coffee Pot so that you can sample their Granos Supremos coffee and get more information on Gusta Java and our Nicaragua Missions Program. Also, look for us at Gifts of Grace later in the year as we will be providing a coffee fund raiser that will showcase all of Gusta Java's coffee. Coffee makes a great gift idea as well as it is a great way to support International Missions at Saint Francis.

Enjoy your cup!
