Saint Francis United Methodist Church has an excellent library, based around the generous donations of former member, the Reverend Dr. Joe Plyler. The Plyler Library is located at the north end of the administrative wing.
There are resources, both print and nonprint, for all ages. There is also a satellite circulation area, accessible to all ages during the week and during church services, located in the narthex area of the original building, and a resource center for Sunday School teachers on the lower level of the main building.
We have added for your perusal and reading time copies of several titles that deal with your spiritual gifts - how to know them and how to grow them. Recent additions that have been readied for check out include:
- McGriff and Millard. The Passion Driven Church. Written by the current and the previous pastors of Saint Luke's UMC in Indianapolis, this book speaks of specific positive ways to grow the church and be the mission of the church in the world.
- Children at Promise. Rather than children at risk, this book by a Christian school principal and co-worker emphasizes ways to make children at promise. Helpful for church school workers and parents, this book is ready to go home with you.
- Compton, Stephen. Rekindling the Mainline Church. Dr. Compton, a former pastor at Saint Francis, proposes that the new church starts help everyone - new found Christians and the older churches as well. Check his ideas out.
- DreamWalk. Written by a breast cancer survivor, she describes dealing with cancer and its many facets that affect lives and loved ones.
- Campolo, Tony. 20 Hot Potatoes... Don't miss his interesting look at 20 of the hot buttons of ethical situations for Christians to consider.
- Crowdbusters for Youth. Need ideas to get your church, school, or scout group going. Try this paperback book.
- Labryrinth. The book talks of how to walk a labryrinth and what it may give to you the walker.
- Schneider. Zeke, The Christmas Mouse. A children's holiday story completes out recent additions. You'll find it in the easy section marked E Sch.
