| Our Worship Service |

Our Sunday morning worship services follow a traditional liturgy of Word and Table.
this begins with Gathering and Praise (a musical voluntary, welcome and announcements, choral introit, responsive greeting, hymn and opening prayer). This is followed by the Proclamation and Response - scripture readings from the Hebrew and Christian scriptures (the Old and New Testaments), a "Time with Young Disciples" (our "Children's Time"), anthem, and sermon (generally about 15 minutes). Our Pulpit Bible is in the New Revised Standard Version (NRSV). The sermon is followed by a hymn of response, followed by a time of Sharing our Joys and Concerns, and Prayers for the Church and the World.
The Thanksgiving provides the setting for the focal-point of worship: the Service of Word and Table. The Order of Worship for Communion is located in the Hymnals; during most of the liturgical year, we make use of the Sung Responses (p.17 of the Hymnal). Other events, such as the introduction of new members, or the Sacrament of Baptism, may also take place during this part of the Service. The United Methodist Church baptizes persons of all ages - infants, children and adults. The final portion of the Service is the Sending Forth - typically a Hymn, Dismissal with Blessing, Benediction and Postlude.
We frequently stand during portions of our worship service. If you are unable to stand with ease, please feel comfortable in remaining seated. |
