Disciple Bible Study | Lectionary Bible Study | Youth Bible Study
Intensive Bible Study and Discipleship training programs are offered throughout the year. Disciple I, II, and III are 34-week intensive Bible studies designed to deepen your relationship with the living Christ. Advent and Lent always feature small group experiences concerned with the spiritual life of Saint Francis Church. Look for details of seasonal Bible Studies, and opportunities for ongoing Bible Study in the bulletin, and in our newsletter, The Franciscan. You can also learn more about Disciple at the Cokesbury Disciple Web page or Disciple Bible Outreach Ministries, which is a collaborative ministry of the Western North Carolina and North Carolina Conferences of The United Methodist Church. Join a DISCIPLE I Bible Study small group and learn about the Bible as the revelation of God. Be changed by God's Word in this study moving through the biblical stories of Creation to the New Jerusalem. Graduates of DISCIPLE I are invited to participate in:
Thia ia short-term (8 weeks) small group meeting on the theme of FORGIVENESS. For some, this has been a life-changing experience to be with supportive community around issues in your life.
Join the pastors for Communion at 9:30 a.m. in the Sanctuary, followed by Lectionary Bible Study in the Gathering Space at 10:00 a.m. This is a lively discussion using the current lectionary readings, which can be found online at The Text This Week. Lunch usually follows morning study, so come and plan to stay awhile!
Youth Bible Study - BibleWorks - Wednesday's from 6:30 - 8pm Each week middle and high school youth come together for 30 minutes to share in celebrations and concerns. At 7:00 the group splits to study the lectionary text for the upcoming week. After study each week, the youth are challenged with this question, "If I were to write a sermon on this week's scripture passages, what would the title be, and why?" All youth (6th-12th) are invited to attend. We meet in Mobile Classroom 10.
