Sanctuary Consecration

The Service of Consecration for our new Sanctuary took place on Sunday, September 20, 1998 at 11:00 AM. braswellThe Service was attended by the District Superintendent of the Raleigh, District of the North Carolina Conference, the Reverend Dr. Kermit Braswell. Preceding the Service of Consecration, at 8:30 a.m., the new Prayer Chapel was dedicated.

The light poles in our parking lot became banner-staffs for the day, hung with banners made by our children's Sunday School classes. The banners were decorated with what is rapidly becoming recognized as a unique symbol of our sanctuary - the large circle-and-cross windows. Surrounding the cross of Christ, the circular windows signify God's neverending love for us, which, like the circle, has no beginning and no end. Palm-prints of the children's hands form rays of light going out into the world through the service of our hands.

In conjunction with the Service of Consecration, the church collected Shoes for Africa. The Shoes for Africa campaign is a project of the North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church. The shoes will protect the feet of those who otherwise would go barefoot.
