Saint Francis Choir

2008cantatachoirThe Saint Francis Choir sings a variety of sacred music and plays an integral role in worship. This group sings regularly in the 8:30 or 11:00 Sunday worship.  They also enjoy doing outreach performances in the community.

Rehearsals are Sunday evenings from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Rehearsals for Adult and/or Youth Sectionals are Sunday evenings from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. The choir is usually on hiatus from mid-July through August.  For 2010-2011, the choir resumes on August 29, 2010.  Visit the Saint Francis Choir Calendar for more details on our rehearsals and other activities.  Please REGISTER ONLINE or just show up for rehearsal.

Over the past few years, the Saint Francis Choir has had several wonderful learning and perfomance opportunities including:

  • Amahl and the Night Visitors - The Choir, soloists, and orchestra presented a fully staged production of this classic opera by Gian Carlo Menotti on Friday, December 11, and Saturday, December 12, 2009.  Click here for more information and to view photos.  
  • Hosting a Choral Festival Workshop and Concert - Guest conductor Donald Nally (Chorus Master of the Lyric Opera of Chicago) directed 7 area churches/choral organizations in this landmark event March 20-22, 2009.  Click here for more information and to view photos.
  • Singing in the Big Apple - The Saint Francis Choir and Bell Ringers had an opportunity to sing in St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City on Friday, July 18, 2008!  Click here for more information and to view photos. 
  • Washington National Cathedral - Saint Francis Choir performed a Choral Prelude to the Independence Day Evensong service at Washington National Cathedral on July 1, 2007.  Click here for more information and to view photos.

Major events for the coming year are:

  • Choir Retreat Saturday, October 23, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The Choir will work on music for our Christmas Cantata.
  • Christmas Cantata with orchestra, Sunday December 12 during both services
  • Choir Retreat Saturday, January 29, 2011 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  The Choir will work on music for Easter and the summer trip to Washington D.C.
  • Easter Sunday with orchestra, Sunday, April 24, 2011 during both services
  • Washington D.C. tour June 25-27, 2011 which includes performing a Choral Prelude at Washington National Cathedral on Sunday, June 26.  Download a Washington DC Participation Form and return to Jim White.

Good News Singers

A group of guitar-strumming, banjo-picking, tambourine-shaking folks who showcase their distinctive harmonies at selected services and at a monthly mission outreach to Glenaire Retirement community.

Rehearsals are as needed, usually Sundays from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.

Vocal Ensembles womensensemble

  • The Women's Ensemble sings two to four part music, and performs in worship several times a year. Rehearsals are Sunday evenings from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.  Typically, there are 3 rehearsals prior to a performance. 

  • The Men's Ensemble sings four-part men’s music, and performs in worship several times a year. Rehearsals are Sunday evenings from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.  Typically, there are 3 rehearsals prior to a performance.

Learn to Sing Classes
