Primetimers
If you are retired (or you could be, but you are still working on a flexible schedule) and if you like good food, fellowship, fun and helping others, then Primetimers may be just the group for you!  This group meets for breakfast on the first Tuesday of each month at 10:00 am at Barry’s Cafe at Tryon & Jones Franklin roads – no reservation needed, just show up.    Order breakfast or just a cup of tea or coffee and enjoy the company of this very congenial group.  While there, you will also hear about the many activities in which Primetimers are involved, and receive information about the social events that are

coming up. In the past few months we held our annual Christmas Potluck Brunch, have gone to the Museum of Natural Sciences to view and learn about the Dead Sea Scrolls and to Southern Supreme to watch them make (and, of course, we sampled!) their delicious fruitcake, candy and cookies.   Upcoming social events will include trips to the North Carolina Theater and the Duke Gardens.   These excursions are usually followed by lunch and fellowship at a local restaurant.

In the area of service, many of our members are involved in projects such as a work trip to an impoverished area in Kentucky, working on small repairs of local homes that are referred to our Hands for Neighbors group by Cary Resources for Seniors, working on the Habitat for Humanity house, and a brand new venture in which several persons have expressed interest – volunteering at a Day Care Center for Seniors and Persons living with disabilities.  Our members are also busy supporting programs here at Saint Francis.  Primetimers are involved with choir, Sunday School, small study groups, crocheting sweaters for Missions, providing dinner for the ALPHA study group, and helping with WIHN (Wake Interfaith Hospitality Network).

If you have an interest in expanding your knowledge base, there have been opportunities to attend seminars and other learning opportunities at locations such as Campbell University.  Although we offer quite a variety of things to do, we are always open to new ideas, so do come and give us a try.  Even if you do not want to “get involved” come and make new friends, we would love to meet you.
